Bernadette Smith Obituary

Bernadette Michele Smith

February 18, 1969 – May 5, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bernadette Michele Smith, who left this world on May 5, 2025, at the age of 56. Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Fenton, Missouri, Bernadette brought laughter, strength, and vibrant spirit everywhere life took her – from California to Florida and eventually Minnesota, where she built her home and raised her family.

She was the cherished daughter of Leota and James Fuehne. Bernadette was the beloved identical twin sister of Antoinette and her youngest brother Frankie, oldest brothers: Donnie and Billy, who preceded her in death. Loved by many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and relatives from all across the US.

She married Cortney Smith, together they raised three strong and beautiful daughters in Minnesota: Kayla Michele, Tiffany Marie, and Maggie Mae. Bernadette’s love for her children was fierce and unwavering, and she took immense pride in watching her family grow.

Bernadette was a woman of many passions. She loved bowling, and bingo with her best friend’s Kelly and Andre. She had a thrill for riding motorcycles, and never missed a chance to cheer on her favorite Minnesota sports teams – especially the Vikings, always in her signature purple. Her bold opinions, quick wit, and infections laughter made her unforgettable. Whether painting her nails to perfection or working hard during her years at Turck, she always carried herself with style and spirit.

She found endless joy in being “Grandma B” to her beloved grandchildren: Anabell and Paisley (Tiffany’s daughters), and Mia and Blake (Kayla’s children). Each of them brought her happiness and pride beyond measure.

Bernadette will be remembered for her fun-loving heart, strong opinions, and her ability to light up every room she walked into. She was a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, and a friend – and she will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.

Skol forever, Bernadette.

In purple, in spirit, and in love – you’ll always be with us.
