Amy Jo Campbell, 52, of Saint Michael, Minnesota, passed away on May 31, 2024, at home. Born on October 30, 1971, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
Amy earned her BSN from Anoka Hennepin College and worked as a Registered Nurse for over 27 years at North Memorial Hospital, always prioritizing patient care. She was a long-time member of the Elk River Alano Society and West Bridge Church in Saint Michael. Amy possessed a remarkable array of talents, excelling in watercolor painting, sewing, crafts, scrapbooking, decorating, cooking, gardening, canning, landscaping, fishing, boating, reading, journaling, designing, and constructing. She cherished her getaways to the Florida Keys in winter and any place with sun and water.
Amy's dedication to helping others was a testament to her boundless and selfless compassion. She was a friend of Bill W. and supported countless women in recovery for over 17 years at the Elk River Alano. Her ever-present smile, big heart, and selfless actions were a beacon of hope and love to all who knew her.
Amy's love for animals was equally profound. She fostered multiple litters of orphan pups and dogs, many in need of extreme medical care, until they found their forever homes once healthy and stable. Our first rescue, Skye, came to her in terrible condition with ten pups, and she transformed Skye into a therapy dog. Skye served in middle schools, nursing homes, and at events for organizations like, "You're Not Alone" and "Thumb's Up", further spreading Amy's spirit of care and compassion.
Amy had amazing relatives and older friends who treated her as their own. She looked up to many who never judged her, offering unconditional love and support without question. Her circle of friends and birthday club book club were always meeting.
Amy was preceded in death by her beloved pups Max and Molly; youngest sister Marny; and grandparents Wilma and Berny Thayer, and Helen and Arnold Engstrom. She is survived by her husband, David James Campbell, to whom she was married 8 of their 15 wonderful years together; sisters Karly (Brent) Sailor, and Jody (Adam) Hoffmann; nieces Kelsie Hoffmann, Rose, and Erin Sailor; nephews Brady Hoffmann, Owen, and Wyatt Sailor; parents Arne and Marilyn Engstrom; and precious pooches Ginger, Snickers, Peanut, Skye, and Bodhi.
A private Celebration of Life service in Amy's honor will be held in the future.
