Allen Kopp Obituary

Allen John "Al" Kopp, aged 80, passed away on February 20, 2026, in Elk River, Minnesota. Born on April 29, 1945, in Browerville, Minnesota, Al dedicated his life to his family, career, and numerous personal projects that benefited not only himself but also those around him.

Al was a man of many talents and gifts. His problem-solving skills were legendary, often turning a problem into a project, whether it involved home improvements or fixing cars. Al's hard work was equally balanced with leisure, particularly at the family-built cabin on Lake Beauty in Long Prairie and later at their home on Lake Orono in Elk River. These places became hubs of joy, hosting countless family gatherings and creating cherished memories.

Al embarked on his professional journey around 1964 in the metal stamping and fabrication industry with Medco in the Twin Cities. Through his tenure, Medco transitioned to Quality Tool in Roseville, where Al continued his work until he was 62. Known for his irreplaceable commitment and expertise, he was called upon for contract work post-retirement, finally concluding his career at the age of 76. Alongside his primary career, Al engaged in house flipping ventures with his brother-in-law, which not only provided for his children's college education but also added a cushion for life’s adventures.

Al's life was enriched by his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda, and their children, Michael (Angel) and Kelley (Eric). He was a proud grandfather to Emma (Tess), Jesse (Amanda), and Caroline (Ryan), and a great-grandfather to Bryson and Emmett. His siblings Rose, Carol, Norma (Dan), Mary Jo (Bob), Rodney (Pam), and Arlis also survive him, along with many family and friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Eleanor Kopp, and his brothers Larry and Dick.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 am at Elk River Lutheran Church, with a visitation at 10:00 am. Al's life was a testament to his enduring kindness, generosity, and the profound impact he had on everyone he knew. His legacy of love, hard work, and community will be remembered and cherished by all.

The family asks that any gifts of sympathy be made as donations to Friends of Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge at https://www.exploresherburne.org/give.
