Roger Bentz

Roger Bentz, age 85, passed away peacefully at home in Otsego, MN formerly of Truman, MN.  Survived by wife Ann; children, Cindy (Jim) Wilhelmi, Jon (Jean) Bentz, Jim (Stephanie) Bentz; stepchildren, Kurt (Maria) Pipenhagen, Cathy (Barrie) Pipenhagen, Karen (Dan) Rgnonti; sister, Betty Christensen; brother, Allen (Elaine); 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by first wife, Sherry; parents, Arthur and Irma and brother, Arnold. 

Roger was Baptized and Confirmed at St Paul's Lutheran Church and attended 1st - 8th grades there. High School 1st year at MLA in New Ulm and the next 3 at Southern School of Agriculture in Waseca. He married Sherry Lee Haeckel 9/14/1958. They raised three children Cindy, Jon, and Jim. 

From 1956-1964, Roger was in the National Guard, as a Combat Infantry Engineer.  He received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1972.

August 25, 1990, Roger married Ann Pipenhagen and added three stepchildren Kurt, Cathy, and Karen.  He was elected to the SWCD Board of Supervisors from 1994 to 2004. In 2003, he retired from farming in Truman and moved full time to Otsego and lived there until the Lord called him home.

Roger was an avid builder and he loved working with his hands. Driving equipment was a passion within him.  He loved to travel, and the mountains of Colorado were his favorite.  Roger loved helping others with building projects.  He enjoyed learning about World War II as he was into the stories and eager to learn more about this war. His Faith was an important part of his life.  We love you and miss you dearly.
