Patricia Vetsch Obituary

Age 89, of Zimmerman, MN, passed away on July 5, 2019 in her home. 

Patricia (Pat) was born on Feb. 1, 1930, in Minneapolis, MN.  The 1st-born daughter of Wallace and Kathryn Thies (Manns), she graduated early from Thomas Edison High School in Mpls., after which she began working in a local newspaper as a secretary/typesetter. She married the love of her life, Francis Vetsch, on June 10, 1950, and they celebrated 64 years together.  During this time, they were blessed with 7 children, 19 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.  Pat devoted her life to her family and to serving the needs of her church and community.  She enjoyed gardening, preserving foods, square dancing, hosting family and friends, playing cards and games. 

Her love of God and her passion for volunteerism led her to be active with ministry positions in her church (St. Michael's Catholic Church, Church of St. Andrew - Elk River, and Christ Our Light - Zimmerman).  

Over the years, she gave of her time, talents, and energy to many organizations including 4-H, Meals on Wheels, Guardian Angel's Hospice, Monti-Big Lake Nursing Home, and Princeton Elim Home.  Her selfless volunteerism brought her many awards, including an Outstanding Citizenship Award from Sherburne Co. and a Volunteer Recognition Award from "Eleven Who CARE" - KARE 11 News. 

Preceeded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents; 1 sister; 3 sisters-in-law; 5 brothers-in-law. 

Survived by her children,  Mark (Mary Seman), Julie (Joel Lidberg), Steven (Patti Herrig), Suzanne (Rich Greb), Margery (Perry Peterson), Thomas (Debbie) Vetsch, Kathryn (Steven Bates); 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; Sister, Kathryn Traczyk; sisters-in-law, Sr. Thelma Vetsch SSND and Roselyn Zachman; and brother-in-law, Harold Anderson. 

Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 25909-4th Street West, Zimmerman with visitation starting at 10:00AM.  Visitation also on Wednesday, July 10, from 5:00-8:00PM at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St, Elk River.
