Joseph DeMars

Joseph Thomas DeMars, 61, of Otsego died peacefully in the comfort of his home on March 29 surrounded by family and the loving arms of his savior Jesus Christ.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering around the garage. Many days were spent doing woodwork, hauling brush, and sitting around a bonfire. He loved settling in on a Sunday to watch the Vikings and spent hours outside on his deck, but his true passion in life was family. Early in life he learned that family was everything. He found the utmost joy watching his girls grow up playing sports, pulling his grandkids behind the four-wheeler, attending concerts and helping others with household projects. No matter what he did, it was with a smile. 

Joe is survived by daughters Sarah (David) Trushenski and Becky (Chris) Graham; grandchildren Lincoln, Crosby, Evan, Hazel, and Harrison; siblings Kathy (John) Lenz, Mike (Sandy) DeMars, Chuck (Wanda) DeMars, John (Barb) DeMars, Mary (Bilco) Dahlheimer, and Betty (John Ocel) Benson; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Harry and Kay DeMars. 

Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Thursday, April 4 at the Church of Saint Andrew, 566 4th St NW, Elk River. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am on Friday, April 5 with visitation one hour prior at the church.
