Jennifer Ann (Date) Stone

Jenny Stone, age 63, of Elk River, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20th, 2019 after enduring a long, courageous battle with cancer. 

She was born in Minneapolis on November 9th, 1955 to Howard and Frances Date.

Jenny was raised in Blaine, MN and graduated from Spring Lake Park High School in 1973. She started her career in telecommunications. She married Dennis Stone on September 12th, 1975.  They moved the family to Elk River in 1984. Dennis passed away after a brief battle with cancer in 1994. Jenny retired in December 2016 from CenturyLink, after over 40 years of service. 

Jenny cherished spending time with family, loving friends, her fiancé Ted, and especially her grandchildren. She loved to travel, attend concerts, and theater. Jenny also enjoyed driving her Jeep “Ruby” and spending time in her boat. She was involved in starting the Relay for Life in Elk River in 1995 and facilitating Grief Support Groups at church for many years. Her passion was helping people in any way she could. Jenny had an adventurous, fun-loving spirit.  She lived life to the fullest every single day.     

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; parents, Howard and Frances; and sister, Lisa Etnier.

Jenny is survived by her children, Jason (Amanda) Stone, Kim Stone (Aaron Forsythe); grandchildren, Dylan, Darrin, Drake, Sawyer, Ilo & Evelyn; fiancé Ted Hasskamp; brother, Steve Date and many loving family and friends. 

The visitation will be Monday, May 27th from 4:00-7:00pm at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St. NW Elk River, Minnesota. The funeral will be on Tuesday, May 28th at 11:00am at Elk River Lutheran Church, 729 Main St. NW Elk River, Minnesota with visitation from 10:00-11:00am.

Interment will be at St. Andrew’s Cemetery after the service with refreshments to follow at the church. Pastor Nathan Mugaas will officiate the service.
