James LeRoy Mitchell

Age 55 of Big Lake, MN passed away Thursday, November 21 in Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN of heart failure.

A celebration of life will be held December 3, 2019 in the chapel at Park View Care Center, 200 Park Lane, Buffalo, MN 55313. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with a service at 3:00 PM.

Jim was born December 10, 1963 in Atkinson, Nebraska to Fred and Marlene (Kruse) Mitchell.  He graduated from Milaca High School in Milaca, Minnesota in 1982.  He worked various jobs throughout his life with much of his time spent working with his brother Jeff in construction.  He worked at Park View Care Center in Buffalo, Minnesota for the past 11 years where he was dearly loved by residents and staff for his caring and helpful heart and witty sense of humor.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening and shared his gains from all three with many family and friends.  He was known as the "favorite" uncle by his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews for all his hugs, thoughtful gifts, advice, and the love he shared for each one of them each time he saw them.

Jim is survived by his two sons, Cord James Mitchell of Big Lake, Minnesota, Cole Michael Mitchell of Elk River, Minnesota; his parents, Fred and Marlene (Kruse) Mitchell of Milaca; his brother David (Deb) Mitchell of Tupelo, MS, his sister Beverly Mitchell (Gary) of Pease, MN, and brother Jeffrey (Jenny) Mitchell of Milaca, MN; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Berlin and Vesta Mitchell and Kermit and Letha Kruse and several aunts and uncles.
