Judy Orrine (Malmquist) Trochlil passed away April 15, 2024 at Mercy Hospital. She was born June 3, 1944 in Grove City, Minnesota to Clarence and Teckla Malmquist. She graduated from Grove City High School in 1962 and then attended Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota from 1962-1963. From 1963-1966 she attended Mankato State College and graduated in spring of 1966 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Health and minored in Biology. She taught high school in Howard Lake, Minnesota for six years. On July 29, 1972, she married her husband Wallace Trochlil at Walker United Methodist Church in Howard Lake. They lived in Howard Lake until the fall of 1976 when they moved to Elk River, Minnesota.
Judy loved Christmas. She started to listen to Christmas music as soon as Halloween was over. She loved Christmas decorations, especially, Hallmark ornaments. She collected several series, especially those of snowmen. She also collected Jim Shore figurines. Most of those represented a holiday or just plain winter snowmen.
When she was not decorating, she was preparing lessons for preschoolers. Before retirement in 1998 she worked with many preschoolers in her home daycare. She also worked with preschoolers every Sunday morning in Sunday School and every Wednesday night at AWANA. Children were an important part of her life.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Teckla Malmquist; and her sister, Joy Houk.
She is survived by her loving husband, Wally Trochlil; her sons, Chad Trochlil, Mike Trochlil, and Dusty (Jodi) Trochlil; and her grandsons, Taylor and Tanner.
